More than four years after his disappearance, an unpublished video of the singer resurfaces… Lies, alcohol, drugs, the star opens up like never before!

In 2017, France lost one of its greatest icons. After a long battle with illness, Johnny Hallyday breathed his last at the age of 74. More than four years after his disappearance, his relatives and admirers continue to salute his memory. According to the latest news, it is netflix who decided to honor the incredible career of the rocker. The famous group has produced a documentary called “Johnny by Johnny” which dissects his incredible journey and his private life. The opportunity for fans to learn more about their idol.

The trailer for the report was unveiled this Friday, March 11, 2022. Countless archive images were provided by Universal (note: Johnny Hallyday’s record company between 1961 and 2005) and INA. As a reminder, Alexandre Danchin and Jonathan Gallaud produced this promising documentary made up of five episodes. “The legend by the legend itself; Johnny tells us his story, in his own words”, assured Netflix about the script. “This documentary invites you into the intimacy of the greatest French singer”.

In a sequence of the video, a journalist exchanges with simplicity with Johnny Hallyday. From the first seconds, the tone is set: “Was there a day when you were particularly proud of yourself?” What the interpreter of “Envy” answers: “I don’t know, I never thought about it”. His interlocutor then asks him if he has already “was disgusted” by himself. “Yeah”, assures the happy father of four children without make-up. Then follow images of alcohol and drugs. “Are you sorry?” adds the journalist. “No”, confides Johnny Hallyday, with a smirk. In a completely different excerpt, he describes himself as “liar” and he needs “believe in his lies”. Confidences to discover in a few days… Case to follow!
