exo and Letenda launch electric bus pilot project

The Quebec company Letenda announced Thursday that it will collaborate with the Greater Montreal public transport manager, exo, for a test-drive pilot project of the Electrip, a 30-foot electric-powered zero-emission midibus.

The Longueuil-based electric bus manufacturer explained that this partnership agreement, which will begin in 2024, will allow the Electrip “to benefit from the expertise of a public transit operator through a series of operational tests “.

“The main objective of this project is to evaluate the energy efficiency performance and reliability of this type of vehicle under various climatic conditions,” the company explained in a press release.

Thus, the Electrip will travel the roads of exo territory and the data as well as the comments of professionals and users will allow Letenda to continue the development of this bus.

This collaboration is part of the work to implement the first phase of exo’s bus service electrification program (2021-2027).

“We are happy to collaborate with exo on this project. Their bus service electrification program is undeniably part of the sustainable mobility equation which is in line with our fundamental values: innovation, sustainable development and collaboration,” said Nicolas Letendre, President and CEO of the management of Letenda.

“Ultimately, exo plans to acquire a fleet of 100% electric buses with diversified templates with a view to a gradual deployment on its territory. Midibus-type vehicles such as the Electrip are therefore definitely part of the equation,” said Marc Rousseau, executive director, operations at exo.
