Over one year, recruitment intentions fell by 8.5% in France. This situation is explained by the gloomy economic context.

A pizzeria has recorded a drop in activity for several months and, as a result, two permanent employees have not been replaced. The boss has chosen not to hire, even if he has to find himself in the kitchen. “The time has come to think about stabilizing the company”, explains Christophe Di Cicco, founder of the “Maison Oggi Bistrot des Chefs”. The alternative is to occasionally use temporary workers, who must be versatile.

Recruitment projects above pre-Covid level

In France, recruitment intentions are down 8.5% year-on-year. This particularly concerns permanent positions, in construction and commerce. The number of unemployed increased by 0.4% over one year. This situation is explained by a gloomy economic context. Mathieu Plane, economist at the OFCE, underlines “a higher level of debt” And “high interest rates”. Despite these difficulties in the job market, recruitment projects still remain above the pre-Covid level.
