“We have taken a step” towards its ban, believes RN MEP Gilles Lebreton

“We have taken a step” towards the ban on surrogacy (GPA), said National Rally MEP Gilles Lebreton this Friday evening on franceinfo. On Tuesday April 23, the European Parliament added surrogacy to the list of practices considered a crime, in the same way as prostitution or slavery, but only if it is forced.

On his X account, Gilles Lebreton nevertheless indicated that he “voted for its ban across the EU”, an abuse of language since the text only condemns cases where the surrogate mother does not consent. The MEP defends himself against this formula : “For a political message to be effective in the context of a tweet, it must be impactful” and adds: “In a tweet the number of words is limited, you have to be efficient”.
