This is one of the causes retained by the CNESST during its investigation to explain the violent explosion that occurred last January at the family propane distribution business Gaston R. Lafortune, located on Rang de la Rivière Nord.

Let us remember that for kilometers around, citizens of Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan had heard the detonations which even made surrounding houses vibrate. The fire raged for hours before being brought under control.

Three people had lost their lives. These are two employed cousins ​​who were aged 65, Céline Pilon and France Desrosiers, as well as Christophe Paradis, 26 years old. The latter was a subcontractor of the company.

The tragedy had greatly shaken the tight-knit community of Lanaudière.

In parallel with the CNESST, the Sûreté du Québec was also conducting an investigation to determine the causes and circumstances of the explosion.
