Almost two months after the fall of the Baltimore bridge in the United States, the cargo ship stuck under the metal frame was freed on Monday May 13.

On May 13, an explosion was triggered in Baltimore (United States). What remained of the bridge structure sank into the river. Nearly two months after the accident, the cargo ship was freed from its metal and concrete shackles by bomb technicians. It was the latest episode in a titanic effort to reopen the port of Baltimore. On March 26, in the middle of the night, the container ship had just set sail when it suffered a double electrical failure. The controls no longer respond and the ship crashes into one of the bridge pillars. In the space of a few seconds, the entire building is dislocated and collapses into the dark waters.

Underneath the frame, the front of the cargo ship was disfigured. Some containers were crushed by the fall. Hundreds of people were needed for the clearing operation. A new bridge will be erected from 2025. The work is expected to last until 2028.
