The Medicines Safety Agency announces that it is suspending the marketing of Joëlle Ciocco brand cosmetics after discovering corticosteroids that have no place in creams, franceinfo learned on Wednesday March 15, 2023. ANSM advises those who own these cosmetics to stop using them.

During laboratory inspections carried out with the General Directorate for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention (DGCCRF), the ANSM discovered betamethasone in face creams and beauty products from the brand . It is a corticosteroid used primarily for its anti-inflammatory effect, so it is meant to be prescribed by prescription only.

If applied to the face over the long term, this substance risks weakening and thinning the skin, warns the Medicines Safety Agency. It can also cause an acne breakout, or even depigment the skin.

Joëlle Ciocco cosmetics are sold in major department stores, such as Le Bon Marché in Paris. Count up to nearly 200 euros for a 30 ml jar of anti-aging cream.
