Pharmaceutical companies targeted by class action in Quebec

The Superior Court gives the green light to a class action brought in Quebec against 16 opioid manufacturers, who are accused of not having informed patients of the addictive nature of these drugs and even of having used strategies of misleading marketing to sell them.

Nothing has yet been proven in this dispute, but he now has the authorization of the Court to take all the steps leading to trial.

The class action is brought for the benefit of all Quebecers who have been prescribed this type of medication since 1996 and who have developed and received a diagnosis of opioid use disorder.

A minimum of $30,000 in damages is requested for each Quebecer who developed such a disorder and the payment of $25,000 in punitive damages by each opioid manufacturer.
