Gérard Depardieu will be tried for sexual assault in October, announces the Paris prosecutor’s office

The actor, already indicted for rape in another case, was heard on Monday in police custody for facts denounced by several women.

Actor Gérard Depardieu will be tried for sexual assault in October, the Paris prosecutor’s office announced on Monday April 29. The actor spent the day in police custody, at the end of which he “was given a summons to appear before the criminal court”. The facts with which he is accused are “likely to have been committed in September 2021 to the detriment of two victims on the set of the film Green Shuttersspecifies the prosecution.

Gérard Depardieu was summoned to the premises of the Parisian judicial police. He arrived there at 8 a.m., before being officially placed in police custody. He was confronted by several complainants there, according to information from France Télévisions. At the start of the evening, his lawyer announced that the actor had left the police station.

The Paris prosecutor’s office recalls that Gérard Depardieu remains indicted for rape and sexual assault in another case. The offenses are “likely to have been committed in August 2018 to the detriment of Charlotte Arnould”detail the magistrates. “The investigating judge closed his investigations on April 17, 2024 and transmitted the file to the Paris public prosecutor’s office to collect his submissions on the follow-up to be considered”, they conclude. Another trial could thus await the actor.
