“Mea Silva”, Émilie Laforest | The duty

Finally, his turn. Émilie Laforest has been surrounding, supporting, advising and giving confidence to local artists for almost a decade: this was undoubtedly the major step prior to this first creation bearing her name alone. The demand towards herself is to this extent: “And at the very bottom of the well, everywhere… / Beauty”, she sings at the opening of Mea Silva : had to dig. Was equally necessary Tundra (Mushuat) for Josephine Bacon : “Yes, I felt / I am part of something / Bigger than me. » Celestial vocals, atmospheric harmonies, on naturally beautiful melodies, that’s his way. Music doesn’t fill the space. Doing less is the watchword: to Thoughts that die, the voice is enough. Touches of synths by co-director Mathieu Charbonneau punctuate Don’t look for me : nothing is missing. For the final song, The unfortunate, Émilie just has to follow Alexandre Tharaud’s piano and everything is said. The art of the essential: it takes time.
