Mary of Denmark “hurt” by the departure of Prince Christian, at only 16 years old

An interview carried out last month, from the Frederik VIII palace in Amalienborg (Copenhagen), during which the wife of Crown Prince Frederik returned to his royal marriage celebrated in 2004, his commitments through his foundation and his busy family life with four children: Prince Christian (16 years old), Princess Isabella (14 years old) and twins, Vincent and Isabella (11 years old).

This Australian by birth first confides that her daily life is naturally punctuated with four children: “No day is alike. Each of our children has their own sporting activities, interests and friends, with all the logistics to be put in place around“, explains the princess to our colleagues. “We always gather around the table for dinner and, as much as possible, for breakfast. And no cell phone!“Slightly different family reunions since last summer, since the eldest of the clan, Prince Christian, has already left the house (or rather the palace) to integrate the Herlusholm boarding school located in Naestved, 80 kilometers south of Copenhagen.

When asked how she experienced this departure, Princess Mary answers with an open heart: “It was hard. But that’s how it is with children. We only have them temporarily. And we are happy that they are strong and independent enough to have the courage to leaveshe says. But it’s also a small injury.
