(Ottawa) Trailing in the polls for several months, the Liberals are calling on the services of an image and marketing specialist, Max Valiquette, recognized for his expertise with young people.
The Liberal government, in power for a little over eight years, has decided to reconnect with one of those who contributed to Prime Minister Trudeau’s victorious campaign in 2015.
When he takes office as general director of communications in December, Max Valiquette will supervise the communications, digital, research and advertising teams.
His expertise in marketing to young people is probably considered an important asset by liberals, who have been neglected by 18-34 year olds.
Max Valiquette’s career has revolved around “brand building, marketing, innovation and understanding millennials and Generation Z,” reads his LinkedIn page.
Notably, he co-founded Youthography, a research and marketing agency — one of the first of its kind in Canada to focus entirely on the youth market.
His arrival at the Prime Minister’s office, which the publication specializing in federal politics Hill Times first reported, does not result in a game of musical chairs.
However, Ann-Clara Vaillancourt, who was previously senior press secretary, becomes director of media relations.
The Prime Minister’s Office also appoints Astrid Krizus deputy director of communications and climate advisor.
