Chicago Blackhawks | Corey Perry still removed from training

(Chicago) Corey Perry was scratched from the Chicago Blackhawks lineup for a duel against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday.

Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson declined to offer an update on Perry’s status with the team.

Perry, 38, has four goals and five assists in 16 games with the Blackhawks this season, his first with the team. He played 15 minutes in a 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabers on Sunday and was scratched Wednesday in a 7-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets.

“He won’t be in the lineup today,” Richardson said before the game against the Maple Leafs. I am unable to provide further information at this time. »

Asked if Perry’s absence was his decision or if it came from above him, Richardson said: “It’s just going to stay internal for now.” Hopefully we can give updates soon, but we can’t give a timeline on this. »

Perry was acquired in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning in June. He then agreed to a one-year contract worth US$4 million with the Blackhawks.

Perry’s continued absence comes as the Blackhawks deal with a fair number of injuries among their forwards. Taylor Hall (right knee) and Andreas Athanasiou (groin) were placed on injured reserve Thursday.
