The film Farm Folies tells the true story of a farmer from Tarn who, to save his farm, opened a cabaret in the middle of his farm. The film of this story is released on Wednesday, May 10.
This is the true story of a young peasant from Cantal threatened with bankruptcy. He finds an original solution: set up a cabaret in the barn of the family farm. The breeder who inspired the film is David Caumette. Fifteen years ago, when he was crumbling under debt, this farmer from the Tarn set up a cabaret on his farm, where you can also taste local products. “Artist-peasant, that’s what I like to be called. I think it’s the right balance. Artist for the crazy and peasant side, because you have to have your feet on earth”, says the farmer.
A year ago, director Jean-Pierre Ameris got the idea for the film while watching a report. The opportunity for him to evoke at the same time the dramatic situation of certain farmers. “the great drama of the peasants, it is very much isolation, withdrawal into oneself, loneliness and him [David Caumette] on the contrary, opened up to the world, to a world he did not know: the artists”says Jean-Pierre Ameris.
