The artist suffers from otosclerosis, a disease that causes a decrease in hearing, even deafness. In this excerpt from “1:15 p.m. on Saturday”, she rediscovers music thanks to a vibrating backpack, an innovation that transforms sound into vibrations.

Zoé Besmond de Senneville has suffered from otosclerosis since she was 25 years old. The actress has seen her career and her daily life disrupted by this disease, which causes a progressive loss of hearing, which can eventually go as far as deafness.

But thanks to a “vibration bag”, she rediscovers the feeling of music in a different way, this time in a more physical way: this innovative equipment is equipped with vibration transmitters modulated according to the intensity of the music. The latter are particularly more intense for the bass. “It’s funny, this thing!” she said enthusiastically.

“It’s been three years since I listened to almost no music”

Zoe hadn’t heard any musical notes for several years. “Working with music, for me, is a bit of a shock. It’s been three years since I listened to almost any music, testifies the artist. I have to get used to hearing the sound again. I live a little in cotton what, I don’t even wear my hearing aids when I’m alone.”

“The absence of sound, me being a musician, it’s probably the worst thing that can happen. Discussing with her is like discussing with me, the fears I might have”, confides the musician who collaborates with her.

Excerpt from “Journal de mes oreille”, broadcast in “1:15 p.m. on Saturday” on April 22, 2023.
