X Games | Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris defends his slopestyle title

(Aspen) Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris defended his Winter X Games title by winning the gold medal in slopestyle on Sunday.

At 29, McMorris was the oldest snowboarder to compete in the final, which involved 10 men. He became the most decorated athlete in Winter X Games history with 22 medals, including 11 gold.

Norway’s Markus Kleveland briefly supplanted McMorris in the fourth and final run at Buttermilk Mountain, but the Canadian scored very high on his final run.

Kleveland took the silver medal while fellow Norwegian Mons Roisland won the bronze medal.

McMorris won the bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics in February 2022, behind Quebecer and gold medalist Maxence Parrot.

Parrot takes a break from competition for a year.
