We have to believe that the kick return specialist Chandler Worthy convinced the Alouettes’ staff that he was the man for the job since the Montreal organization traded Mario Alford to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Sunday.

In return, the Sparrows got a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2023 draft. That pick could become a fifth-round pick if Alford plays at least nine Roughriders games this season.
“It’s not with lightheartedness that we let Mario go,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said in a press release. He has done us great service during his time with us and we wish him the best of luck with his new team.”
Alford began his career in the Canadian Football League with the Toronto Argonauts in 2018 before joining the Alouettes the following season.
He had also impressed in his first campaign in the Belle Province, with two majors on kick returns.
However, Worthy has solidified himself as Montreal’s go-to man at that position, having recorded a touchdown on a kickoff return in two consecutive games, each time against the Roughriders.
