The XXL plant will have a capacity of 16 GW. In China, a football field’s worth of solar panels are installed every hour. Nearly 30% of the country’s electricity comes from green energy.

A Chinese paradox

A factory that manufactures wind turbine blades is overwhelmed by demand. “The number of orders this year is very large. We have 20 production lines in operation to manufacture these wind turbines“, says Ji Jun, deputy plant manager. At the same time, China is always consuming more coal to generate electricity and is opening new power plants. Responsible for a quarter of global greenhouse gas emissions , China is also the largest producer of renewable energy.
