In the middle of all the clashes and controversies of this new season of Dance with the stars, there is one who was able to integrate perfectly into the show, becoming a juror of choice: Mel Charlot. The 39-year-old Canadian is in fact the latest recruit to the dance competition and the least we can say is that she did not come there to make up the numbers, with performances on the floor that were very noticed.
And beyond her image as a known and recognized professional dancer, having danced with the greatest (Beyoncé, Lizzo, Cardi B…), the young woman also seems to be a mother and happy wife alongside Stanley Milfort, a Canadian sports coach. The couple has in fact been together for twenty years, and will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary in a few weeks.
He does not hesitate to join her in Paris
A longevity which perhaps owes its success to the common origins of the hip-hop dancer and her husband: “His parents are Haitian, like me, so we come from the same culture, and we were raised quite similarly”she tells our colleagues at Leisure TV. But their story has not been a long, quiet river, between a relationship that remained at a distance for a long time and above all the obstacle course to be able to have a child.
Because the dancer suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal imbalance that drastically reduces the chances of getting pregnant. Despite doctors’ pessimistic forecasts, Mel Charlot and Stanley Milfort ended up having a child in 2020, named Matéo.
And this “miracle baby” is today in the hands of his father, who remained in Montreal while Mel Charlot continued filming for
Dance with the stars
. The sports coach can thus continue his activities as a performance coach for high-level athletes even if he happens from time to time to cross the Atlantic to join his beloved in the capital.
