Handkerchiefs by the dozen and an incessant ordeal that returns every spring. In the North, the red alert for birch pollen is triggered. Eric Ternaux, a pharmacist from Lompret (North), notes that allergies are occurring earlier and earlier. The pharmacist recommends certain antihistamines, but above all good daily practices. “Try to take a shower to rinse off, because in fact, the allergens, particularly in the hair, will be deposited on the bedding, and therefore at night, on the pillow, it is not practical”he says.

“You can also use saline solutions to wash your eyes when you get home,” adds the pharmacist. Birches, ash trees and grasses began flowering a month early, thanks to milder temperatures. In France, more than one in three adults suffer from a pollen allergy.
