Throughout France, nearly 90% of pharmacies are closed on Thursday May 30. To talk about it, Bruno Fellous, pharmacist and Maria Roubstova, health project manager at UFC-Que Choisir, are guests of 11/13 info.

Pharmacists are fed up. The latter initiated a striking action on Thursday May 30 by organizing a massive strike throughout the territory. In all, nearly 90% of pharmacies will remain closed. “Since we have been talking about all the problems in pharmacy, the shortage has been going on for a few years, we have had a shortage of medicines for three years”, explains Bruno Fellous, pharmacist in the city of Paris. This caregiver particularly regrets being unable to treat people when medicines run out. “It’s a real obstacle course” to practice his profession, he relates.

Many everyday medications, such as amoxicillin for example, are regularly out of stock. “The current system does not make it possible to secure supplies”analyzes Maria Roubstova, health project manager at UFC-Que Choisir. “The whole system needs to be reviewed”particularly that of production and supply, according to the specialist.
