This is good news for US Orleans. Meeting in the executive committee, the French Football Federation is in favor of maintaining the professional status of the club. The USO should have lost it, after two seasons in the National Championship, and without a comeback this year. The FFF, in agreement with the Professional Football League, however believes that covid-19 has had an influence on the course of Orléans over the past two years, which justifies this kind of derogation. Red Star and Le Mans benefit from the same decision. The DNCG, the financial policeman of French football, will still have to validate this maintenance of professional status on June 8.
An important status for the club
“It’s encouraging. It means that the ball is rather in our court” reacts the director general of the USO Boris Luce. This pro status allows you to be more attractive to recruit players, because by definition, it allows you to sign professional contracts. “Not losing pro status also keeps players under contract. If we lose the pro status (…) we find ourselves having to redo everything under federal status“explains Boris Luce. This professional status also allows you to receive TV rights, even if they are much less important during the 3rd year. [passée en National, pour l’USO].
Despite a possible maintenance of professional status, US Orléans will not reconsider its decision to stop the training center. A decision made mainly for financial reasons.
