Two men are summoned before the Bastia Criminal Court on December 6 for “attacking the integrity of a corpse” after the discovery of human remains in garbage bags near Bigorno (Haute-Corse), franceinfo learned on Wednesday April 20. with the Bastia public prosecutor’s office. The two suspects were arrested and taken into custody on Tuesday. Earlier this month, the mayor of Bigorno discovered three empty coffins on the side of a road in his town, in a wild dump. Garbage bags filled with bones and human remains were later discovered near these coffins.
The investigation opened quickly made it possible to identify the deceased. These are three people, exhumed from a cemetery in the neighboring town of Campitello, at the request of the family who wanted to return their concession. The recovered bodies, which had been buried for at least fifteen years according to the prosecution, were to be cremated by the funeral directors and then kept in urns returned to the family.
The two men summoned to court are a professional in the funeral sector and another person with whom he worked regularly, specifies the Bastia prosecutor. They risk up to one year in prison and a fine of 15,000 euros.
