Police fired on a vehicle after refusing to comply, killing two on Sunday, April 24. Two investigations have been opened.
Two people died in Paris on the night of Sunday April 24, after, according to the police, a refusal to comply. Several witnesses heard the explosions a few minutes earlier. The shooting took place in the heart of the capital, in the 1st arrondissement, on the New Bridgeto 11:45 p.m.. According to their account, the police were heading towards a car parked in the wrong direction to check it. The vehicle would have started suddenly, in the direction of an official.
A young peacekeeper would then have opened fire, killing the driver instantly. The front passenger died a few minutes later. Another, in the back, was injured. “We are dealing with determined individuals, who deliberately ran into the police”comments Yohann Maras, trade unionist at Alliance 75. The general inspectorate of the national police heard the five police officers implicated. Two judicial inquiries have been opened: the first for attempted intentional homicide on a person holding public authority, and the second for intentional violence resulting in death without intention of giving it.
