Transshipment platform of Ray-Mont Logistiques | “Keep going”, says Valérie Plante to the opponents

The Mayor of Montreal encouraged opponents of the Ray-Mont Logistiques transshipment platform project in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve to continue to put pressure on their elected officials.

The industrial project – a huge site where containers coming from or going to the Port of Montreal would be transferred between trucks and trains – is causing concern in the neighborhood, where there are fears of excessive noise, as well as increased heavy traffic. heavy.

On Monday, residents of the area participated in the Montreal city council to voice their discontent.

“You have been very mobilized since day 1 and you are right. We are very sensitive to the question, in particular because we know that in the east of Montreal we question the quality of the air, the quantity of green space, the transport infrastructure, ”replied Valérie Plante, adding that “your concerns, I carry them”.

Mme Plante and his team opposed the implementation of the Ray-Mont Logistiques project, but the courts ruled in their favor: the land – a former steel mill – can be developed into an industrial project. The company is now suing the City for a third of a billion dollars over the construction delay.

“Keep doing what you do well: push at home, push at the provincial level, push your federal elected officials, continued Mme Plant at the place of the citizens. And count on us, count on me: we will continue to seek out everything we can to improve and find arrangements that will be relevant. »
