A three-year-old toddler lost his life after being hit on a private road in Roxton Pond, in Estrie, late in the afternoon.
The sad event took place around 4:15 p.m., on Chemin Jacques, in this small municipality of around 4,000 inhabitants.
Emergency services were called to respond after a three-year-old child was hit by the driver of a van in his 30s who was traveling at low speed.
The little victim was rushed by paramedics to a hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. He was finally pronounced dead during the night.
“At first glance, there would appear to be no criminal element. It appears to be an accident,” she added.
A collision scene reconstructionist and an investigator were dispatched to the scene to shed light on this matter.
