He will not have survived three defeats in a row, including a slap in the face by the Bundesliga leader, Bayer Leverkusen (3-0) ten days ago, and a setback against Lazio Rome in the round of 16 first leg of the League champions (1-0), last Wednesday. Thomas Tuchel will step down as Bayern Munich coach at the end of the season, following a “mutual decision” with Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.
“We have agreed that we will end our collaboration after this season. Until then, my coaching team and I will of course continue to do everything possible to ensure maximum success,” recalled the coach in a club press release. Arriving in March 2023 to succeed Julian Nagelsmann, Thomas Tuchel took up the torch of the young technician by bringing back the 33rd German championship title, nevertheless failing in the quarter-finals of C1 against Manchester City (3-0, 1-1 ).
But he ultimately paid the price for a much more complicated 2023-2024 season. Relegated to eight points behind the attractive leader Leverkusen, led by season under his leadership, but the future of “Recordmaster” will be written without him.
