It’s expensive to put an end to the union follies of yesteryear

We suspected it, we now understand the full extent of it. The public sector agreements cost quite a bit more than expected.

The government had set aside $9 billion in its economic update. We now know that buying peace at the last minute on New Year’s Eve will have cost much more.

The budget will be “largely in deficit”, to use the expression of François Legault.

It is certainly unfortunate that we had to reach a breaking point in education for teachers to finally be paid commensurate with the crucial role they play in our society.

It is also unfortunate that the state of the network and the shortage prevent the government from immediately tackling the issue of class composition.

However, when we look at the concessions obtained from the unions, we can only remain speechless.

Then, big concession, teachers who wish will be able to work overtime! Think about it, even before, teachers who wanted to do more didn’t have the right to do so!

Miracle, the interns will be able to substitute!

It says a lot about the union logic which has foreseen in the public sector that accommodations apparently so minor merited such a fierce battle.

The Legault government tells us that these are significant concessions to ensure the sustainability of the network. For the average person, this seems more like common sense.
