The executive is preparing to relax the texts for managing the Covid-19 crisis. “There is no question today of extending the health emergency regime”, which will end on July 31, said government spokeswoman Olivia Grégoire on Tuesday, June 14, at the Elysee Palace. A new text will be presented to the Council of Ministers on June 22, simply to “to be able to remain vigilant at the place of the possible rise of the Covid-19”she clarified.

“We are not going to present a text that will extend all the existing crisis mechanisms, had already declared Olivia Grégoire, on June 8. We are not on the vaccination pass, the state of emergency, etc. What matters to us is to ensure that we are able to intervene if necessary, with the implementation of braking measures if the situation were to change, or even degenerate post-July 31.

In November, Parliament adopted a “health vigilance” bill extending until July 31 the “exit from the state of health emergency” regime. This regime gives the Prime Minister the right to prohibit or restrict movement, gatherings and access to certain places. It is on this basis that the health pass is based, but also, for example, the obligation to wear a mask. Restoring a curfew or confinement would, on the other hand, require a return to a state of health emergency.
