The government spokesperson rejected, on Wednesday, accusations of a bill dictated or influenced by the National Rally.

Government spokesperson Olivier Véran denounced, Wednesday December 20, a “true intellectual fraud” of the National Rally, which claimed a “ideological victory” in the vote by Parliament on Tuesday evening on the controversial immigration law.

“The National Rally is engaging in a real intellectual fraud by wrongly celebrating its so-called ‘ideological victory’. Let’s not be fooled by this political concealment”he underlined during the press report of the Council of Ministers, while recognizing that‘”there are things in this law that we do not like (…) but which do not dishonor us”. The spokesperson also affirmed that the project was adopted without the votes of the National Rally: “At the request of the President of the Republic, we mentally removed the votes of the National Rally deputies to ensure that even without them, we had a clear majority in Parliament and that is the case!”
