“End clap.” The American group Vice Media will close its office in France after 15 years of existence. “Sad to write it, but it’s the end of Vice France. The office will close by the end of March”, announced Paul Douard, editor-in-chief of the online media in France, Monday, February 27, on Twitter. The journalist adds that “30 employees of the French office” will be affected by this closure.

“The American parent company has decided to end the French branch like other countries in recent years”, writes Justine Reix, the head of the company section of Vice France. Asked by AFP, the management of Vice Media did not wish to comment on its decision.

Vice, an American group that was originally a magazine, is now a multimedia platform that mainly targets an audience between 18 and 35 years old. Created in 1994, the American group has been cutting its workforce regularly for several years, for lack of being profitable. It announced in January to be on sale. Its leader Nancy Dubuc also announced her resignation on Friday.
