Two expected superhero shows, Daredevil: Born Again (Netflix) and The Penguin (HBO Max), have suspended their productions until the end of the labor dispute.
born again is a sequel to the show Daredevil, aired on Netflix from 2015 to 2018.
Series The Penguin is derived from the movie The Batman by Matt Reeves, released in theaters in 2022. Colin Farrell, who plays the title character, joined the writers’ picket lines last Thursday outside Paramount’s offices in Times Square, New York.
This strike, which has been going on since May 2, opposes the Writers Guild of America (WGA), a union which represents 11,500 screenwriters, and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP). The WGA is asking, among other things, that a greater share of the royalties for the exploitation of works on Netflix and all viewing platforms on the Internet be redistributed to screenwriters.
Daredevil: Born Again And The Penguin join a long list of suspended productions, including The Last of US (HBO), White Lotus (HBO) and Stranger Things (Netflix).
