The mask is back on the markets! As in flea markets or in external events, the mask is again compulsory. It is a decree of the prefecture of Haute-Vienne which imposes it in the face of the epidemic resumption. At the Panazol market, the largest Sunday market in the department, this news is making people happy. “It is a very good thing”, supports Christine, a 68-year-old pensioner. “It protects us all, it’s a big market. There, I feel safe.”
For many clients, however, it is resignation that predominates. “It’s like that”, sighs Stéphane. “We have to do it so we do it but it must be said that it has become a funny habit in recent months. It’s almost an everyday object now.”
A lot of questions
Anne-Marie says it without hesitation, she hides it “the hate”. She still does not understand the usefulness of this protection “outdoors”. Same question at Sandra, she points to the vaccination. “We were told that with the vaccine, we could live as before … But obviously, that’s not quite true.”
On the other side of the counter, the return of the mask is accepted by the traders. “You just have to tell us”, smiles the market gardener Aurélien. “I do several departments with my fruits and vegetables and the rules are not the same everywhere.”
Karine is a baker. She never took off her mask even when it was no longer required. “I see so many people passing in front of my business…” supports the professional. “A lot of customers discuss the measure but everyone respects it. We are French anyway, so we always complain a little!”
It must be said that if the mask marks its return, it is also the case of the fines: 135 euros in the event of the absence of the mask.
