Scopelec, the oldest cooperative and participatory company (Scop) in France, has been placed in receivership by the Lyon commercial court, reports France Bleu Occitanie on Tuesday, September 27. In all, 2,600 jobs are at risk.

The company, based in the Tarn, is present in Haute-Garonne in the town of Saint-Orens. Specializing in the maintenance and installation of telecommunications networks, it employs 500 people in the Occitanie region and was awaiting a decision concerning its future.

Orange, Scopelec’s main customer, ultimately did not release the funds that could have helped the Scop. The operator points to a lack of quality in the service provided, a lack of skills within the Scop and the impossibility of entrusting it with additional activities. Monday, September 19, six deputies La France insoumise including François Ruffin had gone there to support the employees.
