Two explosions were recorded, Monday September 26 and Tuesday September 27, at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Gigantic bubbling then appeared near the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines, which connect Russia to Germany. Moscow and Europe both evoke sabotage.

Gas leaks visible on the surface of the water, and three impressive bubblings. The footage was filmed by the Danish military. One of the effervescence zones extends over more than a kilometer in diameter, the other forms a circle 200 meters in diameter. The first leak occurred on Monday September 26 on Nord Stream 2, and the next two on Tuesday 27 on the other gas pipeline, parallel to the first. These air tubes carry gas from Russia to Germany. Could the three leaks be a coincidence? “The source of these explosions, as far as we know, is not natural. No natural cause could explain them”says Peter Schmidt, seismologist at the University of Uppsala (Sweden).

These pipelines operated by the Russians, who are the subject of a showdown between Europe and Moscow, are now at a standstill. Nord Stream 2 was never put into service because of the war in Ukraine, and Nord Stream 1 was under maintenance during the summer, and was not opened. kyiv accuses Moscow of sabotage. What would be the interest of the Russians? “A reason not to resume and to stop all exports to Europe”, analyzes Olivier Appert, advisor to the IFRI Energy Center. The leaks will release millions of tons of methane into the atmosphere, a problem when it comes to global warming.
