The number of cancers has doubled in France. The aging and the increase of the population would be in question. But not only.

It is the leading cause of death in men, the second in women. Cancer is a public health issue in France. Its explosion of cases worries. Between 1990 and the projections for this year, the number doubled. This spectacular increase is explained by the increase and the aging of the population. The most frequent cancer in men is that of the prostate (60,000 cases) and in women it is that of the breast (61,000 cases).

Smoking, an important factor

Smoking accounts for 20% of preventable cancers. These change with behavior. The evolution of smoking, which decreases in men and progresses in women, has an impact on the figures for lung cancer. There is a 0.5% decrease in lung cancer in men, against an increase of 4.3% in women. Among the other risk factors, we observe pesticides, exposure to the population, or endocrine disruptors.
