The seventh wave of Covid-19 should not “not spoil the summer”but the healthcare system could be under pressure again towards the end of July, estimated Jean-François Delfraissy on RTL, Thursday, June 30. If we “Look what happened last year when we had at the same time, the first wave of the Delta variant, the peak occurred around the end of July. We expect the same thing for [le variant] BA.5commented the President of the Scientific Council. We expect 1,500 daily hospital admissions within a week – that is to say as in March, when the supply of care is weaker”.

For Jean-Francois Delfraissy, “the government was right” not to make it compulsory to wear a mask in closed places “because in this crisis you have to be scalable”. He also announced that he was going to leave the scientific council, a body which has guided the government since the start of the health crisis, once the health crisis law has been discussed in Parliament. “I’ve only thought Covid for 24 months, it’s time for a fresh vision, it’s time to hand over.”
