Mr. Bonnardel made the announcement on social networks on Sunday morning.
“Last night I experienced symptoms associated with COVID-19. I tested myself this morning and the result is [positif]. I place myself in isolation, ”announced the MP for Granby.
“So far, I only have mild symptoms. I will be working remotely for the next few days as recommended by public health,” he said.
The mayor of Laval, Stéphane Boyer, had announced earlier in the day that he had contracted the virus. “I received a positive result for my screening test for COVID-19. I’m doing well. My symptoms are mild. I will be working remotely for the next few days in accordance with public health guidelines, ”wrote Mr. Boyer.
Several elected officials have contracted COVID-19 over the past week, as Quebec grapples with a rise in cases.
Prime Minister François Legault had also announced Thursday that he had a positive result for a screening test.
