Despite the devastating Russian bombardments, the Ukrainian capital, kyiv, resists. The two former boxing champions, Vitali Klitschko, the city’s mayor, and his brother Vladimir, have said they will never surrender.
For the first time, the damage extends within a radius of one kilometer from the same district of kyiv (Ukraine), Wednesday, March 23. Residents are still in shock after the explosion. The mayor of the city, Vitali Klitschko, spoke with his brother Vladimir to the press. The two former boxers cover the air alert with their voices. “As mayor of kyiv, as a citizen, I say this to you, but above all I say this to the Russians: your troops will never get here. Rather die than kneel. Rather die than ‘be your slaves’said Vitali Klitschko.
At the start of the conflict, Vladimir Klitschko confides that he was first “shocked” and to have “lost sleep”. “Then slowly, we settled into the routine. It reminds me of my training camps, we did the same thing every day. You know, we’re going to have to be tough”, he continues. In a few weeks, the Klitschko brothers have become one of the symbols of the city of kyiv.
