Don’t ring the bell at Pierre-Yves Lord on Sundays, he prefers to stay quiet! For the animator, Sunday is sacred, and it is above all the time to slow down and sleep in.

“It’s as if I wanted to hibernate on Sunday, whatever the season! he laughs. No surprise brunch or crazy adventures, therefore, for those who are nevertheless very sociable and have a warm temperament. But with his rhythm of life between Montreal and Quebec, Sunday is a day when he catches his breath, with his family, with his wife and their two children, Édouard, 13, and Olivia, 10.

“I go back and forth between Montreal and Quebec during the week, but my weekends are in Quebec, at home, with the children, my little spa in my backyard and a bit of video games! »

Sunday is sacred

On Sunday, Pierre-Yves Lord does not plan anything. There may be his children’s sports activities such as soccer matches, hockey training or even gymnastics, but otherwise, no dinners, brunches or trips to the mountains or the island of Orleans. “My professional life is very active and hectic during the week, that of my girlfriend too, who is a secondary school teacher, so on Sundays, I want it to be very easy. I’m very slow, we rest, he admits. We can improvise a small evening of oysters between us, because we really like going to the fish market in Les Halles de Sainte-Foy, and my son loves oysters! In Montreal, I frequent the Falero fish shop. »

The benefits of the St. Lawrence River

The facilitator likes to go out on the St. Lawrence River. “I have a small fishing boat that is on the river in Lévis. On the edge of the quay, I have a view of the Château Frontenac. I like to contemplate the beauty of the river and see the colors that change in the fall, it’s magnificent. If the family doesn’t want to follow me, I go alone. I have the impression of being soothed by the river. Scuba diving is part of my life, even if at the moment I dive less, but I like to be able to keep this privileged contact with the water and to be able to contemplate Quebec from the St. Lawrence River. It’s my well-kept secret, I also take my friends there. It is beautiful, our river, and we love it! »

The magic of the spa

On Sundays, Pierre-Yves Lord gets up late, goes to play a few games of video games with his son, and in this season, he will light a fire, outside, in his courtyard. Then there is the spa option: “We treated ourselves to a small spa and we love it! In winter, with my girlfriend and the children, in the yard, we find ourselves at the spa! In the evening, we look at the sky and we have the impression that we are playing a trick on winter, because even if it is -10 degrees, there are a few flakes falling, we are happy! These are truly magical moments! »

Pizza in Sillery

He doesn’t cook much, so when he has to take care of dinner, he likes to get a pizza from Pizza Mag, rue Maguire, in the Sillery district. “We particularly appreciate the Parmentière with potatoes! Rue Maguire is a pretty street in Sillery, which is a bit like the Saint-Lambert of Quebec. It’s a neighborhood with tall trees, beautiful streets and beautiful houses, and it’s where there is the best pizzeria in Quebec! The choice of pizza is vast and the whole family appreciates it! It is a good address. »

The power of the blower

“What marks my entry into adult life and as a dad in the suburbs of Quebec City is the electric snowblower! he laughs. Listening to him talk, if there was a snowblower event at the Olympics, he would win the gold medal. “I pass it in an almost sickly way! I love that ! I have already prepared my tools to de-ice the terrace, I am very proud, I am clearing the backyard with my snowblower, and I must say that there is something meditative. I listen to podcasts at the same time, it relaxes me. At the end of winter, by blowing the snow, I get closer to spring, I take advantage of the backyard earlier in the season, and then I have the impression of being stronger than nature…! »
