The bones of little Émile were discovered on Saturday March 30 in Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). The announcement of his death caused a shock wave within the small hamlet.

In the commune of Haut-Vernet (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence), the amazement after the discovery of the bones of little Émile gradually gives way to the emotion of the inhabitants. “Despite this tragic outcome, I think first of them and it’s terrible, a little child of 2 and a half years old”, notes a resident of the hamlet. Émile’s bones were found by a walker 2 km from the hamlet.

A tribute organized in the town

Nine months after his disappearance, this discovery puts an end to the hopes of the inhabitants. “I had the hope that we would find him alive (…) all my thoughts are with Émile, with his parents”, testified François Balique, the mayor of Vernet. The elected official hopes that the truth about the circumstances of his death will soon be revealed. He assures that he trusts the justice system and the gendarmerie. A tribute will be organized in the town in the coming days.
