“The Great Atlas of France” by Estelle Vidard and Nathalie Ragondet

“Le grand atlas de la France” is a large and beautiful book of the Father Castor’s collection, published by Flammarion Jeunesse. This Atlas allows us to discover, or in any case to learn more about, many facets of our regions.

Already it is understand the administrative division of our country. On a map of France you will find the regions, the departments with their number. Metropolitan France and of course the overseas departments.

Then over the pagesyou will find the landscapes (volcanoes, forests, rivers, islands, etc …), our economy with information on dynamic activities, declining activities and how they are distributed on our territory but it is also a question of energy, transport etc.

Among the funniest cardsthere are the menus of gastronomy with our essential cheeses which make our reputation, rillettes, brioches, traditional dishes etc…

Your child will have fun discovering the map of traditions, regional languages, folk costumes, our crafts, our fauna, our flora, our monuments… In short, this great atlas is smartly designed and very easy to access.

Our country is represented in 12 beautifully illustrated cards by Nathalie Ragondet who worked with the author, Estelle Vidard.

But there is one map left, on the last page of the book. A blank card! It will be up to your child, after having immersed himself in this great Atlas, to redraw our country in his own way this time. A very very nice idea, to take in the suitcase who you are going on vacation soon. Holiday homework like kids love it. I specify that you will find, in the same collection, “The great atlas of the world”.
