A new gesture on the price at the pump? The Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire said on Saturday July 23 that he was in favor of increasing the discount per liter on fuel prices from 18 to 30 cents. “The discount could increase from 18 to 30 euro cents in September, and in October then increase to 10 in November and 10 in December”, he detailed. With the discount of 20 cents at the pump announced Friday by TotalEnergies, “you would have in some service stations in France a fuel at 1.5 euro”he continued.

The oil giant has promised a rebate at the pump of 20 cents per liter between September and November (then 10 cents until the end of the year), in the face of the threat brandished by the deputies of a tax on “superprofits” .

Bruno Le Maire also proposed to LR deputies the “deferral” the transport fuel allowance (ICT), targeted at large riders and the working classes, but criticized by the right, which is calling for a measure “widespread“. Bruno Le Maire also mentioned a specific measure for “small rural stations”, a provision also requested by the LRs. The latter, satisfied by these announcements which bring down the fuel price close to €1.50, a threshold they demanded, withdrew their amendments. This paves the way for an adoption of the discount.
