The fresh and delicate flavors of “Fruit ripe”, Claire Redor’s first album

A delicate voice, nuanced melodies. In her first album, where she signs texts and music, Claire Redor deploys a very personal universe.

It’s hard not to compare the title of Claire Redor’s first album, Ripe fruit (label One sure thing), with the years that passed between its release in early 2023 and the solo model made in 2012. A decade to reach this maturity. In the meantime, the release of two EPs, in 2014 and 2015, and a first stage in Nantes.

The caress of water

However, when we discover Claire Redor, her presence and her universe, we have an impression of immense freshness, comparable to that found near a mountain stream. This is perhaps due to the airy and evanescent side of his songs, to the delicate precision of his texts which tell of love and the minute details of things in life. In an interview with Ouest France, the Nantes woman confides that she is very inspired by water. The Loire, the marshes of Brière, where my mother comes from, and the ocean, this soothing and thirst-quenching space for me”.

Special sounds

Granddaughter of a violinist grandfather, Claire Redor composes her melodies on the piano but calls on thea harp (Emilie Chevillard), a musical saw, a vintage keyboard (Erwan Martinerie and Yann Arnaud), a cello (Erwan Martinerie) or even the Japanese flute (Alexandre Viudès) to create a rather unique sound material, both caressing and heartbreaking, refined and yet rich in nuances.

Rocked by musical practice at a very young age – piano, violin and lyrical singing – Claire Redor composes her own melodies. (France 3 Poitou-Charentes)

Textbook

Mother of four children, this woman who looks like an elf, never goes out without a little notebook to write down moments, feelings and emotions. This is where she drew the raw material for her 11 songs written between Nantes and the hills of Corrèze. “A beach in Belle-Île, breath, a bird found on the windowsill, a voice recognized in the alley, a made-up mouth, dazzle…” as she listed on the Ulule site during the fundraising campaign launched (and brilliantly wrapped up!) around this first album which, we hope, will see other fruits ripen in its wake.

Claire Redor will be in the first part of the Albin de la Simone concert on June 2 at L’Excelsior in Allonnes (72)
