The editorial staff of the weekly voted Saturday, July 15 the renewal of the strike started in June to protest against the arrival at the head of the title of Geoffroy Lejeune, transfixed by Current values. Therefore, the JDD will not be published for the fourth consecutive Sunday, a “heartbreaking” according to journalists.
“The editorial staff of the JDD voted this Saturday morning at 96%, during a secret ballot, in favor of the renewal of the strike movement (94 for, 4 against, 8 NSPP) to protest against the appointment of Geoffroy Lejeune in the direction of the newspaperwrites the Society of Journalists (SDJ) in a press release published on social networks. “This historic decision is still just as painful for the newspaper’s teams to take. Despite this, we will continue this fight for the legal and editorial independence of the JDD.”
The social movement must continue on Sunday and Monday, traditional days off for the newspaper. “The editorial staff will meet on Tuesday to decide on the continuation of the movement”adds the Society of Journalists.
