Three days after sustaining a serious injury during an urban rodeo in Rennes, the driver of the motorcycle was placed in police custody on Wednesday June 8 in hospital, learned France Bleu Armorique. Known to justice, this 18-year-old young man is suspected of “motorized rodeo”, “involuntary injuries with ITT greater than three months” and “lack of control”. Suffering from a broken tibia and head trauma, he is still hospitalized.
The victim, a friend of his who was on foot, is still “in very serious condition”, specifies the public prosecutor of Rennes Philippe Astruc. Aged 19, he was in cardio-respiratory arrest and suffered from head trauma and internal bleeding after being hit in the back. He had been resuscitated on the spot then hospitalized in intensive care with a vital prognosis.
The shock occurred on Sunday during a “rear wheel” of the motorcycle which was traveling at high speed in a parking lot on the Beaulieu university campus in Rennes. A six-year-old child was also slightly injured and briefly hospitalized. He found himself “sitting, it seems, on the handlebars” of the motorcycle, the prosecutor said on Monday.
The police have still not found the vehicle involved, according to France Bleu Armorique. The motorcycle had disappeared when they arrived, “taken by friends of the defendant and the victim”according to the Rennes prosecutor.
