“the death of my father is the trigger for my football career”

It is a strong moment that delivered Esteban Lepaul this Monday in the Tribune 100% USO, on France Bleu Orléans. Invited for more than 30 minutes in Facebook Live, the striker ofUS Orleans confided in particular on several significant periods of his young career. First on his experience at Olympique Lyonnais training center, where it was not kept (from 28’30). But also on the drama that affected him in May 2020, with the accidental death of his fatherFabrice Lepaul, former footballer, champion of France with theAuxerre in 1996.

The first part of 2020 was a disaster for me. I am not kept in Lyon and two months later I lose my dad… It was the trigger for my football career, I think. Because I have a goal in mind, it’s an event that made me grow as a person and as a footballer too“, has explained Esteban Lepaul.

The former Spinalian also detailed the importance his father had on his career : “He was influential in everything, when I was at the hope center of Nancy, many clubs came forward, but he wanted me to join the best, Lyon, because when he was young he went to the best center in formation of the time, Auxerre. He wanted the best for me and he always gave me his advice, that’s why I’m here now.”
