Since Saturday July 8, at the end of the afternoon, Émile, 2 and a half years old, has disappeared in the village of Vernet, in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. He was on vacation with his grandparents. A major research system has been deployed.
Émile is 2 and a half years old, and according to those close to him, the ability to walk for a long time despite his age. Is it the taste for adventure that would have pushed him away from his grandparents’ house, where he played in the garden? Was it a kidnapping or an accident? The little boy disappeared around 5:15 p.m., Saturday July 8, escaping the vigilance of his grandparents. About thirty gendarmes are mobilized, as well as firefighters, drones, helicopters equipped with thermal cameras and sniffer dogs.
Disappeared for 27 hours
“The first elements we have, which come out of two testimonies, is the child leaving the place of residence of his grandparents, and he is seen in a downhill street by two people. This is where we lose then his trace”, specifies Rémy Avon, the public prosecutor of Digne-les-Bains (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence). Almost 27 hours after Émile’s disappearance, the concern is growing, but the reinforcements are increasing. Dozens of residents from all over the region are taking part in the search. According to the call for witnesses, Émile is 90 cm tall, has brown eyes, a yellow top and white shorts.
