In a green setting of 120 hectares, Sainte-Croix Animal Park is a place to discover European fauna and global biodiversity. Five areas take you to meet more than 1,500 animals from 100 species living in semi-freedom.
On the trail of European animals
“Let’s meet European fauna on the historic path of the Parc Animalier de Sainte-Croix! You can discover the largest carnivorous animals in Europe such as the brown bear, the wolverine, the lynx and the wolf. It is also possible to observe deer in semi-freedom by exploring the paths of the large plain of deer.
Of the 16 stags wearing magnificent antlers looking to seduce, only one will be able to unite with the herd of doe, that’s still 26 females for one stag! During this period of Brame, the male loses 40% of his weight, he runs in all directions. Females in heat are only fertilizable for 24 to 48 hours, and yes the male must not miss the boat! We then witness a series of parades to seduce the herd of doe, all good means to excite the female.
The laugh is the cry of the deer, a mode of communication, there are several and the most impressive is that of frustration
