According to weather models, the province will experience rather cold weather over the weekend, while the “heat hangs in the west of the country”, indicates Météo Média.

It has already snowed recently in the areas of Chibougamau, Saguenay and the Parc des Laurentides. “It’s not impossible that we notice a few snowflakes in some places, but it should be limited especially in the more northern regions for the moment,” said Gregory Yang, meteorologist for Environment Canada.

Montreal had recorded at Thanksgiving 2021 a heat record since 2017, when the mercury had risen to 21.7 ° C. At this time of year, the average maximum temperature does not exceed 13°C, underlines Gregory Yang. This year, “we remain rather normal” while meteorologists predict 13.9 ° C in the metropolis next Monday, adds the specialist. “It’s the heat flares that are kind of unusual,” he says.

There is also a risk of early frost in Montreal over the weekend, two weeks earlier than the average for previous years, indicates Météo Média. In the region, temperatures should not exceed 10°C.

One thing is certain: winter is not yet settling in Quebec as the weather should warm up at the beginning of next week in the province, indicates Gregory Yang. The temperature could even reach 19°C on Tuesday and Wednesday in the metropolis, he confirms.

The long weekend is the best time to enjoy the colorful panoramas. Already, the fall color season has reached its peak in several regions of Quebec.
